Black Sesame and Forbidden Rice Horchata
A simple twist on a classic Mexican beverage: Horchata, or orxata, is a popular Mexican drink made with water, rice, cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla. This recipe uses Forbidden rice, aka "longevity rice" because it is rich in antioxidants and protein—while making this drink a gorgeous purple hue—and Black Sesame milk as the flavorful base.
Ingredients
2 cups Three Trees Black Sesame Nut and Seedmilk
1 cup water
2/3 cup forbidden (black) rice
1 cinnamon stick
3 pitted medjool dates
Directions
Pour all five ingredients into a blender pitcher. Place in the fridge and soak overnight.
After soaking, blend until the rice is roughly ground.
Strain through a cheesecloth and pour into a pitcher.
Serve chilled over ice and enjoy!
