OPERATIONS MANAGER

This role will direct seamless execution of product and process quality to ensure the highest level of customer and consumer satisfaction. P&L responsibilities include: Manufacturing Margin, Warehousing, and Distribution. Position will be involved in all aspects of manufacturing, new product development, commercialization, as well as day-to-day operations.

Supply Chain

  • Develop and implement plans to significantly reduce COGS across the supply chain
  • Work in conjunction with CEO and sales team to develop S&OP forecasts
  • Develop processes and manage the order processing and fulfillment functions
  • Manage MRP and inventory of all raw materials, packaging, and finished goods
  • Effectively managing strategic relationships with all suppliers and partners.  Ensure current suppliers have adequate capacity to meet       company’s growth projections, work with suppliers to improve the reliability and efficiency of the supply chain
  • Responsible for scale-up and commercialization of all new products
  • Identification of new suppliers as needed to ensure both capacity and quality needs are being met
  • Responsible for monthly cost and margin reporting on raw materials, packaging, finished goods, warehousing, and freight
  • Establish additional procedures and metrics to measure operational efficiency, such as manufacturing yield
  • Management and continuous improvement of the end-to-end process of fulfilling customer orders in the direct-to-consumer channel

Manufacturing / Quality

  • Develop and implement plans to significantly reduce COGS across the supply chain

  • Oversee manufacturing / production
  • Maintain detailed production records
  • Improve throughput 
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure that quality standards are met during production
  • Develop and maintain raw material, packaging, and finished product specifications
  • Continuously ensure or improve product quality
  • Maintain required product certifications (e.g., Organic, Non-­GMO Project, Kosher, etc.)

Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

Candidate will need to possess ability to rapidly develop an in-depth knowledge of company products and business operations. The position requires great people and relationship-building skills, good judgment, as well as a strong sense of urgency in all matters related to the health of the business.

  • Operations experience in a CPG company
  • Strong ability to trouble-shoot and problem-solve, to address production issues as they arise
  • Bachelor’s degree ideally in Engineering or a quantitative discipline

Honed analytical problem solving skills are essential, as well as the ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks.  A strong desire and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done and done well. Other Aspects of the Position

  • The role will report directly to the CEO/Founder and will be involved in all aspects of manufacturing, new product development and day to day operations
  • The position is based in California, and may require some travel.  Actual travel time will vary based on specific business activity and demands at any given time     

 

ADMINISTRATIVE & OPERATIONS ASSISTANT

We are looking for an organized and diligent individual who is detail-oriented and has a positive attitude to support critical day-to-day activities.  This role can be flexible, both in schedule and location.  At a minimum, the responsibilities include the below.  With demonstrated interest and ability, the role can expand to a much broader scope with greater hours.

Responsibilities include:

  • Receiving and fulfilling orders, generating and processing invoices: ensuring timely and accurate processing
  • Coordinating inbound and outbound movement of raw materials and goods
  • Submitting paperwork, for example, for item set up at new stores: requires filling out forms with key company information and product details.  (We're always available to provide needed info, but being resourceful, thoughtful, and able to work independently is critical.)
  • Sending samples to prospective distributors and buyers
  • Identifying lowest-cost freight and arranging freight shipments
  • Some data entry and basic analysis: to establish metrics and maintain visibility into how the business is performing

Sample of other tasks:

  • Manage projects such as the creation of Marketing material
  • Develop and manage demo program
  • Maintain and update website

Ideal candidate:

  • Motivated self-starter
  • Has the ability to navigate systems and complete tasks independently in an efficient & timely manner
  • Is detail-oriented, can extract data and pre-populate forms
  • Can manage his/her own time but is communicative about progress of tasks

This is an independent contractor role with flexibility around hours (can be 20-40 hours/week).  There is the potential opportunity for greater roles & responsibilities but not expected.  Starting $15-20/hr.
